Do your four-legged friends deserve more laughter in their lives? Every first Sunday of the month, Monique Madrid, her dapper pooch Comet and a rotating guest host invite dog lovers to enjoy stand-up comedy, complimentary “pupcorn” and raffles for pet-parent prizes. Dogs, meanwhile, can dress up for the red carpet photo shoot, safely socialize in a community environment and partake in plenty of their own fido-friendly goodies. The $5 admission, raffle proceeds and donations benefit the nonprofit Tail­waggers Foundation, which provides funding for organizations that treat sick and injured animals. More >

It’s been a great year for comedy podcasts about people who love dogs. First there was Can I Pet Your Dog,and now Monique Madrid brings her dog-friendly monthly standup show in LA to podcast or “pupcast” form. This week Monique and her pup co-host, Comet, released the first three episodes, welcoming comedians Baron Vaughn, Janine Brito, and dog trainer Bob Weatherwax. Each episode starts out on the street meeting dogs and their owners and ends with a rapid-fire questionnaire about favorite breed, dog names, dog movie, and their most doglike attribute. More >

Enter 2 Girls 1 Pup, a Los Angeles-based dog-friendly comedy show featuring complimentary “pupcorn,” fun games, raffle prizes, hilarious segments and more. Named one of the “10 Best New Stand-Up Shows in L.A.” by LA Weekly, the event is hosted by comedian Monique Madrid, her dog Comet and a rotating cast of comedians at Tailwaggers on the first Sunday of the month. “We literally have dogs and their humans sitting in dog beds on the floor, while others curl up on their owner’s lap, hump a leg, or just hunker down to take a nap,” says Madrid. “We never take offense to it, though – it just means the dogs are having a good time, too. Monique Madrid’s comedy show for dog lovers celebrates its one-year anniversary.

Hey bitch, fetch those car keys, roll on over, and get ready for a pawty! Every first Sunday of the month, Monique Madrid, her dachshund Comet, and a special guest co-host present 2 Girls One Pup, a canine-friendly standup show out of the Tailwaggers Pet Store in Hollywood. On Sunday, April 12th Girls 1 Pup will be celebrating it’s one-year anniversary (seven if we’re thinking in dog terms) and to mark the occasion Madrid and co. are planning a big birthday bash. PBR, cake, door prizes, party gifts and extra special raffle prizes will all be on hand as part of a benefit for the Tailwaggers Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps fund qualified 501c non-profit organizations who supply life-saving treatment to sick and injured animals. More >
